My website and my email are no longer working!
Hostcake uses two different monitoring services to check that your website is running every 10 minutes. So if there is any issue causing your website to be offline chances are that we know about it already. In the case of an extended technical issue with your website we will notify of the problem.
So in the event that BOTH your website AND emails have stopped working, by far the most common cause of this is an expired Domain Name Registration.
If you registered your domain name with Hostcake your domain name renewals are set to Automatic however if you registered your domain names with another company it is possible you have not renewed your registration. Usually 30 days after the expiry of your domain name your domain goes into "Hold Status" - this means that your services such as websites and email will STOP working!
You can check the registration status of your domain name by performing a "Whois" lookup, click on this URL link and enter your domain name:

If the returned status is "HOLD" or "Expired" it means you need to URGENTLY renew your domain registration with your provider - until you do this your website and emails will not work and you also run the risk of your domain name being released and potentially purchased by somebody else.
